The Agentic Index covers 28 business categories today and adds new ones every week, based on what real owners ask for. If you run a dry cleaner, a tutoring service, a dog daycare, a florist, a bookstore, a print shop, or anything else we haven't put up yet, drop us a note. In the meantime, a handful of AI tools already work across almost any small business, and a local AI pro can help you set them up no matter what you do.

The short version

  • The Agentic Index covers 28 business categories today. 17 trades, 6 regulated professions (attorneys, doctors, real estate, financial advisors, accountants, insurance), and 5 main-street types (restaurants, retail, salons, fitness, cafes).
  • New categories go up roughly one per week, on a Sunday schedule, based on which ones get the most requests through the form on this page. Tell us yours and we'll add it to the queue.
  • A handful of tools work for almost any small business. Quo ($19/mo) for the phone, Square or Stripe for payments, Mailchimp ($13/mo) for email marketing, and Podium ($399/mo) for reviews and customer text chat. Free tiers exist for several of these.
  • A local AI consultant works across business types. Most pros in the directory have set up these tools for restaurants, salons, retail, and other small businesses. The setup playbook for a dry cleaner or a tutoring shop looks a lot like the one for a salon.
  • You don't need to wait for your category's page to find a local AI pro or to get started with the cross-business tools.

Tools for any small business

Which AI tools work across almost any small business?

These show up on most of the category pages we already have, regardless of what the business actually sells. If your category isn't on the directory yet, start here. Pricing reflects published vendor information as of May 2026.

Not sure which one to start with? A local AI consultant can walk through your shop in an hour, point at the one tool that will help most, and set it up for you in 30 to 60 days. Find a local AI pro.
Common questions

What owners actually ask when their business type isn't on the directory yet

Straight answers to what owners actually ask. Use the form below to add your business type to the queue.

My business type isn't on the directory yet. What should I do?

Fill out the short form on this page with what you do, where you work, how many people you have, and the AI tool problem you'd want solved. We add new business pages based on demand from real owners. The more requests we get for the same business type, the sooner it goes up. We'll email you when your page is live. In the meantime, the cross-business tools listed above (Quo, Square, Stripe, Mailchimp, Podium) already cover most of what a small business needs.

Are there AI tools that work for almost any small business?

Yes. A handful of tools help nearly any consumer-facing small business regardless of category. Quo at $19 a month handles the business phone and after-hours calls. Square and Stripe handle payments for both in-person and online. Mailchimp at $13 a month handles email marketing and repeat-customer outreach. Podium at $399 a month handles online reviews and text-message customer chat. A solo owner or small team in a dry cleaner, tutoring shop, daycare, florist, or bookstore can start with these regardless of what they sell.

Can a local AI consultant help with a business type you don't cover yet?

Yes. The local AI consultants listed in the directory work with small businesses across categories, not just the 28 we have pages for. A consultant who has set up AI for a salon or a cafe can usually do the same work for a dry cleaner, a tutoring service, a dog daycare, a florist, or a bookstore. The underlying tools and the setup playbook are similar enough that the business category matters less than the size of the operation.

How long until my business type gets its own page?

It depends on demand. We add roughly one new page per week on a Sunday schedule, prioritizing the business types that get the most requests through this form. If you're the third or fourth person asking for the same category in a month, expect a page within 2 to 4 weeks. Single-request types can take a few months. Either way, we email everyone who requested the category when the page goes live.

What 28 business categories does The Agentic Index cover today?

17 trade categories (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, construction, landscaping, handyman, painting, welding, carpentry, auto service, appliance repair, pest control, decks and outdoor, marine structures, swimming pools, solar power), 6 regulated-professional categories (attorneys, doctors, real estate agents, financial advisors, accountants, insurance agents), and 5 main-street categories (restaurants, retail and boutiques, salons and beauty, fitness studios, cafes and coffee shops). Browse the full list.

Do I need to wait for my business type's page to find a local AI pro?

No. The local AI consultant directory works the same whether your business type has a page yet or not. Tell us your zip code, your size, and your biggest pain on the find-a-pro form, and we route you to a consultant in your county who works with small businesses. The match is based on location and size, not on whether your specific business type already has a page on the site.

Even if your exact business isn't here, the closest neighbor page is usually close enough to give you a starting list of tools and a sense of what setup looks like. A tutoring business can borrow from the salon page on customer texting; a dry cleaner can borrow from the cafe page on repeat-customer email.

Or browse everything on the homepage, including all 17 trades and all 6 regulated-professional pages.
